Job Title: COO
Team: Management
One thing you bring to your role:
I’m curious. I want to learn and understand. I want to see what’s possible.
What do you see as the biggest challenges facing the recruitment industry?
Recruitment has pretty well worked the same way for decades. Yes, there’s been technological advancements but at it’s core it’s been relatively unchanged. People’s expectations are changing though. Especially their expectation around the experience they have with companies and brands. I see that as being one of the biggest challenges facing the recruitment function, both internal and agency. People expect more transparency, communication and a greater sense of urgency than ever before. It requires a consumer marketing approach which is not something traditionally considered in recruitment.
What is your favourite thing about your role?
My favourite thing is I get to help people achieve their personal goals. As people, we all want to be challenged and grow and I love being able to support people on that journey. I also love being in a position where I can help shape the future of the business and the opportunities that creates for our people.
What is the best question a candidate can ask an employer?
Regardless of who the interviewer is, asking these personal questions will give you more insight into what it could be like working at the company. If the interviewer is your potential new boss, it will give you some perspective on what’s important to them. It also demonstrates real interest in the role and organisation but importantly, the people you might end up working with.
What hobby would you get into if time and money weren’t an issue?
Not a new hobby to get into, more one I’d do more….get out on my motorbike. With 3 little people at home squeezing in the time to get some decent rides in gets tricky. But that’s what I’d do. I love it.
