Are you an experienced Systems Engineer with a strong safety focus and a passion for contributing to Australia's Defence capability? Kinexus is seeking a Systems Safety Engineer to join a major Defence program, playing a key role in delivering safety engineering solutions across complex, mission-critical systems.
You'll be part of a multidisciplinary team delivering advanced safety outcomes across the Defence landscape. If you're ready to lead from the front and provide strategic safety guidance while mentoring others, this role is for you.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safety Engineering Leadership: Lead safety engineering activities aligned with Defence regulatory frameworks and project lifecycle requirements.
- System Safety Documentation: Develop and manage Safety Cases, Hazard Logs, and Risk Assessments, ensuring compliance and traceability.
- Verification & Support: Provide input during system reviews and ensure safety requirements are appropriately implemented and verified.
- Mentorship & Collaboration: Guide junior engineers and project teams in applying safety engineering best practices across the Defence program.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Work collaboratively with project managers, engineering teams, and Defence stakeholders to embed safety into all stages of development.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Engineering Background: Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- Defence Experience: Minimum 7 years in safety engineering within the Defence sector.
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of Safety Case development, hazard identification, risk analysis, and Defence safety regulations.
- Analytical Capability: Demonstrated experience in safety assessments, hazard analysis methodologies, and engineering risk management.
- Communication Skills: Excellent stakeholder engagement and the ability to translate complex technical safety concepts into practical outcomes.
