Due to the nature of clients we work with here at Kinexus and the projects these roles will be based on, an Australian Government Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) clearance is essential.

These opportunities do not have the ability to obtain sponsorship for a security clearance (including applicants who currently hold a security clearance seeking to upgrade).

ABOUT THIS ROLE

Assist with the installation and maintenance of network data cabling, patching and ancillary data cabling infrastructure.
Candidates must hold a TSPV security clearance. ASD will not sponsor candidates to upgrade their security clearances in order to apply for the role.

Working arrangements: Onsite The core location of services will be within Russell but time may be spent installing at sites locally and interstate. There will be a requirement to undertake occasional planned work outside the cores hours in support of maintenance activities and general support. Candidates must be willing to undergo ASD's Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to engagement. WFH cannot be accommodated

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The contracted resource will be required to enter data, maintain and update commercial off the shelf (COTS) databases and technical drawings. Assist with the auditing and documentation of Optical Fibre and Copper infrastructure and recording the data in the appropriate template, database and/or drawing.
  • Maintain and support Commercial off-the-Shelf database, ensuring accuracy of existing and new data meets system functionality requirements of the Network Infrastructure section.
  • Contribute to producing and reviewing technical "as-fitted" drawings reflecting current communications space layouts using Commercial off-the-Shelf software.
  • Assist in the continuous improvement process by participating in working groups with other database users to identify software bugs and areas for development and improvement.
  • Assist with the regular reviews of in situ design and system templates to ensure consistency of records across user groups.
  • Assist with the installation of data cabling patching and infrastructure within communications rooms and the isolation and rectification of cabling faults.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Demonstrable experience in data entry and database maintenance. Experience in Cable-Solve preferred.
  • Experience in the use of Visio and other technical drawing applications.
  • Experience in Optical fibre & Copper data cabling installation and maintenance.
  • Preferable if candidate holds relevant government data cabling Licences and endorsements.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE NEEDED

  • DBAD 4 Develops and configures tools to enable automation of database administration tasks. Monitors performance statistics and create reports. Identify and investigates complex problems and issues and recommends corrective actions. Performs routine configuration, installation, and reconfiguration of database and related products.
  • ASUP 4 Maintains application support processes, and checks that all requests for support are dealt with according to agreed procedures. Uses application management software and tools to investigate issues, collect performance statistics and create reports.
  • DESN 3 Follows standard approaches and established design patterns to create new designs for simple systems or system components. Identifies and resolves minor design issues. Identifies alternative design options and seeks guidance when deviating from established design patterns.
  • HSIN 3 Installs or removes hardware and/or software, using supplied installation instructions and tools, including handover to the client. Uses standard procedures and diagnostic tools to test installations, correct problems, and document results. Records details of all components that have been installed and removed. Assists users and follows agreed procedures for further help or escalation. Contributes to the development of installation procedures and standards.
  • Australian Citizenship and a TSPV security clearance is essential
