Due to the nature of clients we work with here at Kinexus and the projects these roles will be based on, an Australian Government Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) clearance is essential.
These opportunities do not have the ability to obtain sponsorship for a security clearance (including applicants who currently hold a security clearance seeking to upgrade).
ABOUT THIS ROLE
The Infrastructure Engineer (Radio Frequency) will support the design, integration, testing and documentation of engineering subsystems under broad direction and guidance. The Infrastructure Engineer (Radio Frequency) will be required to work across a variety of disciplines including RF hardware systems, Digital Signal Processing and Software Defined Radios (SDR). The Infrastructure Engineer (Radio Frequency) will provide support and advice to team members in the required areas of expertise and share their knowledge to aid in improving staff understanding.

Working arrangements: Onsite. WFH will be accommodated on an adhoc basis as required by the business. Candidates must be willing to undergo ASD's Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to engagement. Candidates must have an active TSPV. ASD will not sponsor candidates to upgrade their security clearances in order to apply for the role.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Undertake the design, integration, testing and documentation of engineering subsystems.
- Plan, design, manage, execute and report test plans and procedures using appropriate testing tools and techniques.
- Produce technical documentation to support capability acquisition and sustainment activities.
- Undertake testing using electronic debugging equipment (examples include oscilloscopes, logic analysers, spectrum analysers) to do fault finding and debugging of embedded hardware devices.
- Conduct design reviews.
- Assist in the continuous improvement process by developing and enhancing procedures.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Holds a Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Strong understanding of RF Engineering concepts.
- Ability to design and implement RF hardware solutions that meet the business and technical requirements of ASD.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE NEEDED
Essential criteria
- System Design: Level 4 (SFIA): Recommends/designs structures and tools for systems which meet business needs and takes into account target environment, performance & security requirements and existing systems. Delivers technical visualisation of proposed applications for approval by customer and execution by system developers. Translates logical designs into physical designs, and produces detailed design documentation. Maps work to user specification and removes errors and deviations from specification to achieve user-friendly processes.
- Radio Frequency Engineering: Level 4 (SFIA): Investigates and resolves system-wide fault conditions using a wide range of diagnostic tools and techniques. Reconfigures equipment to circumvent temporary outages.
- Functional Testing: Level 3 (SFIA): Reviews requirements and specifications, and defines test conditions. Designs test cases and test scripts under own direction, mapping back to pre-determined criteria, recording and reporting outcomes. Analyses and reports test activities and results. Identifies and reports issues and risks associated with own work.
- Australian Citizenship and a TSPV security clearance is essential
Desirable criteria
- PROG 2: Designs, codes, tests, corrects, and documents simple programs, or scripts and assists in the implementation of software which forms part of a properly engineered information or communications system.
