ABOUT THIS ROLE
Infrastructure (Network) Architects design, implement and evolve the infrastructure (on-premises and/or cloud) that support an organisation's IT systems.

Working arrangements: Onsite. Onsite 5 days a week. Candidates must be willing to undergo ASD's Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to engagement.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create Architecture Documentation, Standards, Reference Designs, and Frameworks for use by Network Engineers in the Design and Deployment of new Networks. Liaise with multiple project and capability stakeholders to design and document ICT system security controls.
- Work with Network equipment in a lab setting to understand, assess and document new technologies to determine their suitability for integration into existing and future network capabilities. Escalate issues and seek advice from executive management in a timely manner, supporting other tasks as required.
- Ensure validation and verification of requirements, with particular reference to reliability, availability and capacity delivered by different network and security solutions including the mapping of these to higher-level project or customer requirements.
- Provide architectural guidance in the development of new and the modification to existing products and capabilities including the creation and modification of solution architecture documentation.
- Ensure all work meets agreed timeframes, quality standards and quality control measures.
- Lead a virtual team of Network Engineers to undertake detailed designs, network installations and acceptance testing in accordance with documented standards and policy.
- Identify project and section level risks and issues. Escalate risks and issues, and seek advice from the section or project tam leadership.
Work cohesively and flexibly with the project team, and manage the expectations of stakeholders.
Technical Skills:
* Holds a Diploma of Information Technology or similar. * Basic understanding of network fundamentals, such as protocols, architectures, devices, topologies and standards. * Ability to design and implement network solutions that meet the business and technical requirements of ASD. * Good understanding and experience of network security. * Proficient in network automation.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE NEEDED
- ARCH 5: Leads the development of solution architectures in specific business, infrastructure or functional areas. Leads the preparation of technical plans and ensures that appropriate technical resources are made available. Ensures that appropriate tools and methods are available, understood and employed in architecture development. Provides technical guidance and governance on solution development and integration. Evaluates requests for changes and deviations from specifications and recommends actions. Ensures that relevant technical strategies, policies, standards and practices (including security) are applied correctly.
- NTDS 5: Produces, or approves network providers', network architectures, topologies and configuration databases for own area of responsibility. Specifies design parameters for network connectivity, capacity, speed, interfacing, security and access, in line with business requirements. Assesses network-related risks and specifies recovery routines and contingency procedures. Creates multiple design views to address the different stakeholders' concerns and to handle both functional and non-functional requirements.
- REQM 4: Defines and manages scoping, requirements definition and prioritisation activities for initiatives of medium size and complexity. Contributes to selecting the requirements approach. Facilitates input from stakeholders, provides constructive challenge and enables effective prioritisation of requirements. Establishes requirements base-lines, obtains formal agreement to requirements, and ensures traceability to source.
