The Role
As an Electrical Drafter, you will play a key role in developing detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation to support naval shipbuilding and sustainment projects. Working within a multi-disciplinary team, you will collaborate with engineers, designers, and project stakeholders to ensure compliance with defence standards and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and cable routing plans for naval/maritime applications.
- Assist in the modification, revision, and updating of existing electrical documentation to align with project requirements.
- Work with engineers and designers to ensure all drawings meet Australian Defence and maritime standards.
- Ensure compliance with AS and MIL-STD requirements for electrical systems in shipbuilding and naval environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical, control, and communications systems within vessel designs.
- Support document control and version management, ensuring accurate record-keeping of technical drawings.
- Use industry-standard CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, EPLAN, or similar) to produce high-quality designs.
- Participate in design reviews and technical discussions to address project challenges and ensure deliverables meet quality standards.
- Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and naval stakeholders to ensure technical requirements are met.
- Assist in the preparation of technical reports, work instructions, and project documentation as needed.
Skills & Experience
- 5+ years' experience as an Electrical Drafter, preferably in the defence, naval, maritime, or heavy engineering industries.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, or similar CAD software.
- Strong understanding of electrical drafting standards, cabling layouts, and schematic development.
- Knowledge of defence industry requirements, including AS and MIL-STD.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, and engineering specifications.
- Experience with cable management, earthing systems, and power distribution in complex environments.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and a commitment to quality control.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Australian Citizenship - must be eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance (Baseline or NV1).
