Due to the nature of clients we work with here at Kinexus and the projects these roles will be based on, an Australian Government Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) clearance is essential.
These opportunities do not have the ability to obtain sponsorship for a security clearance (including applicants who currently hold a security clearance seeking to upgrade).
ABOUT THIS ROLE
To facilitate this project outcome, ASD has a requirement for Data (Business Intelligence) Analyst at a SFIA Level 5. The Data (Business Intelligence) Analyst will be a highly organised, dynamic, outcome orientated individual with excellent communication skills. A key function of the role will be to maintain and support the existing reporting capability, while also growing the level of service & analysis provided to our range of stakeholders.
The Data (Business Intelligence) Analyst will be working with portfolio and program stakeholders to gain an understanding of their reporting requirements and translating those into reports, data visualisations and dashboards primarily using Power BI and SharePoint. The position will be responsible for effectively generating, gathering, storing, analysing and using data to contribute to decision making and shaping at the portfolio office level.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work as part of a centralised portfolio office to develop, deliver and maintain Power BI & SharePoint based reporting, dashboards and visualisations, in support of the organisation's program of change initiatives.
- Manage a range of competing stakeholder requirements across different business areas, including translating these into the development of standardised and ad hoc reporting.
- Analyse and interpret patterns and trends to identify and communicate insights.
- Identify and drive the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives within the reporting space.
- When required, upskill the current team to enable broader understanding and contingency for the section.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Business intelligence development experience in corporate environments (collecting data and deploying reports and dashboards).
- An understanding of Agile/SCRUM/DevOps methodologies.
- Experience with Project Server, SQL Server and SQL Server Report Builder.
- Experience using Python for data Analytics. Experience working in a portfolio or program office, including understanding of portfolio/ program, governance methodologies.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE NEEDED
- DTAN 5: Sets standards for data modelling and design tools and techniques, advises on their application and ensures compliance. Manages the investigation of enterprise data requirements based upon a detailed understanding of information requirements. Coordinates the application of analysis, design and modelling techniques to establish, modify or maintain data structures and their associated components. Manages the iteration, review and maintenance of data requirements and data models.
- REQM 4: Defines and manages scoping, requirements definition and prioritisation activities for initiatives of medium size and complexity. Contributes to selecting the requirements approach. Facilitates input from stakeholders, provides constructive challenge and enables effective prioritisation of requirements. Establishes requirements base-lines, obtains formal agreement to requirements, and ensures traceability to source.
- BINT 5: Plans and manages business intelligence activities. Ensures that business intelligence processes are robust, efficient and fit for purpose, focusing on automation, key controls and data quality. Advises on the available standards, procedures, methods, tools and techniques. Manages reviews of the benefits and value of business intelligence techniques and tools and recommends improvements. Contributes to the development of analytics policy, standards and guidelines.
- BUSA 4: Investigates business situations where there is some complexity and ambiguity. Adopts holistic view to identify and analyse problems and opportunities. Contributes to the selection of the approach and techniques to be used for business situation analysis. Conducts root cause analysis and identifies recommendations for improvements. Engages and collaborates with operational stakeholders.
- Australian Citizenship and a TSPV security clearance is essential
