The Role

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Architect & Automation Specialist to drive cloud transformation initiatives in a fast-paced and secure environment. This role will be responsible for designing and deploying scalable cloud solutions, automating cloud operations, and ensuring compliance with security standards. You will collaborate closely with key stakeholders to align cloud strategies with business objectives and support digital innovation.

  • Location: Canberra, ACT (Onsite)
  • Security Clearance: NV1 minimum (TSPV highly desirable)
  • Initial Contract: 12 months + 2 x 12-month extensions

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement cloud strategies that enhance security, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Design, deploy, and optimise cloud-based architectures, including Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) solutions.
  • Lead the automation of cloud infrastructure using Bicep/ARM, Azure DevOps, and PowerShell scripting to streamline processes and increase efficiency.
  • Oversee cloud migrations, ensuring minimal disruption and optimisation of resources.
  • Implement security best practices and compliance frameworks to align with industry and government standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and expertise on automation tools, cloud optimisation, and emerging technologies.
  • Monitor cloud resources for performance, cost-effectiveness, and resilience, identifying opportunities for enhancement.
  • Design and implement cloud-based disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of cloud solutions into existing environments.
  • Provide training and mentoring to internal teams on cloud automation and best practices.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in cloud architecture and automation.
  • Expertise in designing, deploying, and optimising Azure Cloud Infrastructure, using Bicep/ARM, Azure DevOps, and PowerShell scripting.
  • Strong background in cloud security, compliance, and risk management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical discussions and collaborate across diverse teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to senior stakeholders.
  • Experience working in national security or government environments is highly desirable.
