ABOUT THIS ROLE

As a Solution Architect, you will design integrated technology solutions to address complex business and technical requirements. Your role will involve working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders ensuring that solutions are innovative, scalable and able to meet the evolving needs of national security. You will have the chance to drive forward-thinking, enterprise-level designs and lead major transformations, while ensuring seamless integration
across various systems and platforms. We are seeking candidates who possess SFIA Level 5-6 experience for this role.

ONI is seeking to engage one (1) full-time labour hire contractor for the provision of solution architecture services to support its Digital and Data Division. Below is a general guide on what ONI is seeking for each of these roles. The role is to be performed in ONI's offices in Barton, ACT, with flexible working arrangements to be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Working arrangements: Onsite. Onsite 5 days a week.

Maximum hours: 40 hours per week

Security clearance: An active TOP SECRET POSITIVE VETTING (TSPV) clearance is required for this role. Contract execution is subject on ONI clearance recognition which may take several weeks.

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Design and develop comprehensive, scalable, and secure technology solutions that align with business and technical requirements, ensuring seamless integration across multiple systems, platforms and environments.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, project managers, technical teams and external partners to understand requirements and ensure solutions meet the agency's objectives and needs.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of business needs and technical requirements, translating them into clear, actionable solution designs and specifications.
  • Assess and recommend appropriate technologies, frameworks and platforms to meet the solution's objectives, ensuring the most effective and efficient approach.
  • Prepare detailed solution architecture documentation including design specifications, implementation plans and technical diagrams, ensuring clarity and alignment across teams.
  • Identify potential risks and challenges in solution design and implementation, providing risk mitigation strategies to ensure successful delivery.
  • Develop and enforce architectural standards, guidelines and best practices to ensure consistency, scalability and quality across solutions.
  • Work closely with development teams during the solution's implementation phase, providing guidance to ensure alignment with the architectural vision and resolving technical challenges.
  • Ensure effective integration of new solutions with existing systems, applications and infrastructure, enabling smooth transition and minimal disruption to operations.
  • Monitor solution performance and identify opportunities for optimisation, providing ongoing support and improvements post-implementation.
  • Provide training and knowledge transfer to internal teams and stakeholders, ensuring they understand the solution's design and functionality.
  • Remain current with industry trends and emerging technologies, recommending innovative solutions to address evolving business needs and technical challenges.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Minimum five (5) years' experience in field of expertise.
  • Formal training and demonstrated application of technical architecture methodology in one or more disciplines, including enterprise, solutions or network architecture.
  • Demonstrated engagement skills, including ability to lead complex technical discussions to reach common understanding and agreement from a broad range of technical specialists.
  • Excellent communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts to senior leaders.
  • Experience working in one or more NIC agencies in a capability delivery capacity.
