Job Title: Systems Engineer - VMware Specialist
Location: Mawson Lakes, Adelaide
Start Date: January 2025
Duration: 9 Months (initial contract until September, with potential extension options)
Security Clearance: NV2 Prefered, NV1 Required

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer with expertise in VMware to join our clients team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining VMware solutions, ensuring they meet both operational and security requirements in a Defence-related environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and maintain VMware virtualised infrastructure to support mission-critical applications.
  • Perform hands-on implementation and troubleshooting of VMware environments.
  • Develop and document policies, procedures, and configurations for VMware-based systems.
  • Collaborate with Cyber and IT assurance stakeholders to implement secure and compliant solutions.
  • Oversee the integration of VMware solutions with other infrastructure components, including storage and networking.
  • Design and implement monitoring, logging, backup, and patching strategies for VMware environments.
  • Optimise performance and scalability of VMware virtual environments.
  • Manage platforms within Hybrid Environments, restricted and air-gapped networks and cloud (highly desirable).
  • Operate effectively in highly regulated and cyber-sensitive environments (highly desirable).

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in designing and managing VMware environments, including vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter.
  • Expertise in VMware networking and storage integration.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for virtualised environments.
  • Proficiency in creating and managing virtual machines, templates, and resource allocation.
  • Hands-on experience with VMware tools, including vSAN, NSX, and Horizon (desirable).
  • Knowledge of monitoring and automation tools for VMware (e.g., vRealize Suite, PowerCLI).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Active Directory and its integration with VMware environments.
  • Experience working in Defence or other highly regulated industries (highly desirable).
  • Excellent documentation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
