Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Electronics Engineer / Electronics Group Lead to lead the development and integration of advanced electronic systems for Defence. This includes the maintenance of existing Defence asset and the develop of new Defence capabilities. This role combines hands-on design work, strategic project leadership, and mentorship of junior engineers to deliver high-quality solutions that drive innovation and excellence.

The ideal candidate is someone with a good mix of experience in management and MilSPEC PCB/PCA design with exposure to firmware development and DSP coding.

About the Company

Our client is a technology company specialising in advanced systems for Defence, aerospace, and space industries. They design and manufacture remote weapon stations for precision targeting and safety, develop systems for satellite communication and space debris tracking, including lasers and imaging systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a small team in the develop and testing of electronic circuits
  • Integrate hardware and software for embedded systems.
  • Collaborate across disciplines, including software, mechanical engineering, and product management.
  • Conduct V&V to ensure compliance with industry standards and specifications.
  • Create and execute test plans, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including schematics and test reports.
  • Ensure designs meet regulatory and industry certifications (ISO9001)
  • Evaluate and recommend new components and materials for use.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of relevant experience in electronics design and development.
  • Exposure and experience working in a Defence environment.
  • Eligibility for or holds ADF Security Clearance to NV1 (Australian Citizenship required)
  • Experience in engineering management
  • Experience and understanding of MilSPEC PCB/PCA design with exposure to firmware development and DSP coding.
  • Analog and digital circuit design experience.
  • Configuration Management and Systems Engineering experience
