We are seeking a skilled Satellite Networks Specialist to join a technically advanced team focused on delivering satellite connected networking solutions to government and Defence clients worldwide. In this role, you will work on everything from system design to post-sales support, ensuring seamless and reliable satellite communication solutions for critical global operations.

This position is ideal for a self-motivated professional with strong experience in satellite communications and IP networking, looking to contribute to impactful, mission-critical projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Configure, install, commission, and maintain satellite hardware components, internal systems, and customer-facing networks.
  • Maintain and support airtime systems and internal network infrastructure, including routers, firewalls, servers, and restricted networks.
  • Diagnose and resolve user issues with satellite and networking systems, collaborating with peers to escalate complex problems.
  • Provide on-call technical support for satellite systems, offering hands-on solutions and telephone support to end users.
  • Assist in pre-sales support activities, deliver technical demonstrations, and provide operator and technical training to clients and partners.
  • Assemble and test custom satellite and network solutions tailored to specific client needs, while creating detailed technical documentation.
  • Conduct incident analysis and root cause assessments, delivering insights for system improvement and optimization.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Trade qualification in Australian Electrotechnology/Telecommunications/IP Networking (Cert IV or equivalent) with at least 4 years of industry experience.
  • Proficiency with IP networking hardware (routers, firewalls, switches) and knowledge of Microsoft and/or Linux operating systems.
  • Experience with satellite communication technologies and the ability to configure networking equipment to meet customer requirements.
  • Skilled in analysing client communications issues and devising effective solutions for satellite or terrestrial-based problems.
  • Competence in preparing and delivering technical presentations and reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces, with relevant Australian certifications.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • GVF Advanced Installer or Examiner certification, Cisco CCNA, Network+ or equivalent certifications.
  • Familiarity with VMware or Hyper-V network virtualisation technologies.
  • Formal qualification in Workplace Training and Assessment.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to gain and maintain Australian certifications for working at heights and confined spaces.
  • Ability to participate in a 24/7 on-call roster for client support.
  • MUST be an Australian Citizen and have a current NV1 security clearance or higher
