Highcom is an ASX listed international defence industry company with a strong commitment to innovation, quality, and national security. HighCom operates two distinct divisions from facilities in Canberra, Australia, and Columbus in the USA.

  1. Armour Division: Focused on the design, manufacture, and supply of personnel protective armour systems to global militaries, law enforcement and first responder customers.
  2. Technology Division: Dedicated to the deployment and sustainment of Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS) systems for the Australian Defence Force (ADF).

Highcom is seeking an experienced executive to join their business in Canberra as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The CEO will oversee all aspects of the company's operations, manage key stakeholder relationships, and drive the company's mission to deliver superior products and services to key clients.

Whilst the role is based in Canberra, applicants who reside in Sydney and who can spend meaningful time in the Canberra office are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

The CEO role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities.

  • Develop and execute the company's strategic plan, including the pursuit of new business opportunities in Australia and overseas whilst ensuring that the company remains at the forefront of innovation in its areas of specialisation.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the company, ensuring both divisions achieve their financial, operational, and strategic goals.
  • Maintain and build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including in the Australian Department of Defence, government agencies, and industry partners.
  • Drive financial performance through the execution of the strategic sales plan and execution of efficient business operating processes and procedures.
  • Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and reporting, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Owns responsibility for ASX and Board reporting requirements, including the preparation of annual reports, investor presentations, and other shareholder communications.

Experience

  • Minimum of 15 years of executive leadership experience, preferably within the defence, aerospace, or technology sectors.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading complex organisations with multiple divisions, ideally including manufacturing operations.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing relationships with government, military, and shareholder stakeholders.

Skills

  • Strategic thinking with the ability to set and communicate a clear vision for the company.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with a focus on fostering innovation, operational and sales excellence.
  • Strong financial acumen, with the ability to drive growth while managing risk.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and engage a wide range of stakeholders.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Defence Studies, or a related field is required.
  • An MBA is highly desirable.

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Remuneration

The remuneration package on offer is commensurate with the responsibilities of the role and includes generous short-term and long-term incentives.
