Oddly, I was called “CP” even before I started at Kinexus, where everyone uses acronyms.
How would you summarize what you do at Kinexus in one Paragraph?
I report to the loveliest office manager in the world, manage the diaries of the Sydney team’s fearless leaders, assist the marketing and management teams, and content-edit Raj’s best break-up songs and relationship tips.
What do you like best about working at Kinexus?
The team environment; no one is ever too busy to help. It’s super supportive and you never feel like you could slip through the cracks.
What’s your favourite part of your job?
I get to work with an incredibly experienced, diverse-thinking group of people, and learn the ways they operate.
What has been your least favourite job and why?
My first ever job was in a butcher. One of the butchers once threw a sheep’s eye at the wall; it rolled down.
What motivates you to succeed?
Being able to help make things happen is so rewarding to me. I love the idea of being one of the men behind the curtain (to borrow a non-PC phrase).
Why did you choose your profession?
I’m equal parts creative and administrative, so I think being a PA/Writer is a great way to keep those weirdo sides of my personality happy.
What makes you happiest?
Animals most of all, and swimming in the ocean. Also, Veuve Clicquot.
What’s your greatest achievement and how has it shaped you?
It’s not much of an achievement, but a few years ago I walked away from what was potentially a career-building industry because I realised it was making me unhappy. It felt reckless at the time, but I’ve come to learn that there’s a reason people say you should follow your heart – it might be cliché, but it’s true!
What fad do you wish would come back? Which do you feel should stay gone forever?
Boom-box speakers and street Christmas parties. I wish reality TV would go away.
Who’s your personal hero?
Patsy Stone in Absolutely Fabulous. And Zizi Donohoe (just look up her Instagram and you’ll see what I mean).
